    The best so far

I have purchased several Omron blood pressure devices over several years. They seem to last forever, but purchases are made for upgraded features.Older devices needed to be physically connect to a PC to upload data. Then a later version Bluetooth to my cellphone with their app. This one. WOW. Fast Fast Fast update to the app.Omron offers a great product worthy of lifetime purchases.

    Recomendado 100%

Limited Compatibility for App and NOT Alexa-Compatible

Researched thoroughly before purchase, and for the higher price it would definitely be worth the money, BUT after receiving product and reading manual and website info and spending a half hour with customer service via phone, I learned that it is not Alexa-compatible DESPITE being labeled so and an Amazon exclusive. There is no Connect Omron app in Amazon App Store and even Google Play APK set-up has the CO app as unavailable for Amazon Fire tablet top-end 10 and 11 versions. No Windows app either…in 2024. The Android phone CO app is only compatible with about 7-8 brands of phones and only certain of those brands’ phones. Not compatible with T-Mobile’s top phone with Android 13. App downloads to phone, but Bluetooth doesn’t pair with BP monitor…which is strange because the phone Bluetooth itself does pair with the BP monitor. This is not a huge obstacle to remove, but Omron hasn’t for reasons I can only speculate. The same phone and tablets and even my Windows PC are completely compatible with all my Amazon toys and other Bluetooth products. Without the Bluetooth, it’s too much work to hand enter info for relaying to doctor, especially when the three-readings feature requires additional time to take advantage of. I’ll keep it for a few days or so and see if Omron contacts me with a fix, but otherwise it will be returned. Shame!

    Nice blood pressure monitor…

Bought the Omron Platinum to replace a different brand I purchased from Costco 3 years ago. Pretty impressed with this one. Blood pressure seems kind of low compared to what I’m used to, but I’m assuming it’s accurate. Nice monitor.

    Does the job

I had an Omron that was 8 years old and I got this new one as I worried that the old one wouldn’t be accurate. Well, now I have two Blood Pressure monitors and they register almost exactly the same readings. It’s a good brand and I like the adapter plug in feature.

    Good blood pressure monitor

I like the arm band cuff better than my 13 year old Omron monitor. I have it take 3 readings 30 seconds apart and average the results. I leave it plugged into a power source all the time so I don’t have to replace batteries.

Accurate and well made. If you are an older person it seems to make comments on your blood pressure that do not take your age into full account. Nice history feature in the app..

    Easy to use

-Purchased the platinum version since it had the ac/dc adapter and it also came with batteries.-Easy to use and assemble and readings are very clear to read with the white font on black background. Notifies if BP high and keeps the reading upon turning off and unplugging.-Cuff fits various sizes and adjustable.

Great product, seems accurate, syncs with Apple Health

I tracked my BP 2x daily for several months straight using this. I used the feature where it takes 3 BP’s in a row and averages the 3 together. I highly doubt you can find any monitor that’s 100% accurate, so taking that into consideration I think this machine is as reasonably accurate as you can ask hope for. I think the app is developed pretty well, but I really loved how you can sync it up with Apple’s Health app; in one app, I was able to take a glance at my HR throughout the day, my sleep, and my BP.

time to replace my ancient BP machine…

and, with a little guidance from by cardio-doc to consider the Omron brand, I decided to splurge and use my rewards $s and get one of the best in their line. Gotta say that using this device actually lowers my BP (along with losing 15 lbs recently) and is great for not only taking an accurate BP (confirmed by ABing this with my CardioDocs manual reading) but also for keeping a history of not only mine, but also my lovely wife’s BP which is usually very low. This is a great device that does the job well and keeps a record!

Good Machine but doesn’t sync data

The machine seems consistent and accurate, but like other reviewers have said, it does not sync with the smartphone app. I tried several ways/times, in the event I was doing something wrong, and it just does not work. Perhaps different phone models would be successful, but like other reviewers, it did not work for me.

    Accurate readings

This gives me accurate readings. It compares well to the manual readings at my doctor office. The cuff is adjustable as my upper arm is large. You can have 2 users which is a huge benefit if multiple people need to take their blood pressure daily. There are indicators if your reading is high or low.

    Inconsistent reading ….

We like the arm fitting. However, the unit was shipped in the product box and opened. It appeared to have been previously used but we tried it anyway. The pressure numbers were all of the place . Up and down by 20 points top systolic and diastolic numbers. I tried and my spouse tried and same inconsistent readings.

    Good Machine

Unlike lesser blood pressure machines, this one is easy to use without assistance. The cuff has a metal buckle that makes it easy to self-tighten–no error codes because the cuff was too loose. There are many features I have not used yet if you use it with your phone.

Accurate And Easy To Use. App Get’s It Done, But Could Use Improvement.

I purchased the OMRON Platinum to replace to become the primary blood pressure monitor because my wife started to monitor her blood pressure more closely and didn’t like my Withings BPM. I have had previous experience with OMRON monitors and liked this one because it was able to have two profiles, store a lot of data and has an iPhone app.SetupSetup is easy and everything you need is in the box. The cuff has the tubing already attached, so you just need to insert the tube end into the left side of the machine. No need to look for batteries. They are included and are inserted in the bottom of the machine. It also comes with an AC adapter. Instructions are clear on how to start up the machine and set things like date, time, how many times you want to take your BP for averaging, the interval between and setting up the machine to work with the Omron Connect App.Taking your BPIf you have never taken your BP before, I suggest that you talk to your doctor or at least read online on what to do (and not do) before taking a reading and how to properly place the cuff on your arm. The manual does mention all of this, but at a higher level with the exception of using the cuff and the operating the machine because their focus is on the use of their product, not educating you on what to do before – that’s your job and I won’t get into the placement and alignment. Taking the reading is simple put the cuff on as instructed, select your profile from the switch (1 or 2) then press the START/STOP button. The cuff will inflate and deflate, if you have select to do averaging, it will do it multiple times, then at the end, it will give you your BP and heart rate.DisplayThe display is white text on black background which is opposite of most LCD screens. I found that this setup made it easier to read in varying light conditions and the text appears sharper than most displays I have seen. Systolic, diastolic and heart rate numbers are in large, easy to read text. It will also show you your last reading on the left side of the screen. At times there is a lot of information on the screen, but not really all that important or necessary, for example, inflate and deflate and some others – you know it is happening because you can feel it. If not, you got a bigger problem than your BP.AccuracyFrom my experience with the monitor is that it is accurate to within 2 mmHg. My readings were done at a consistent time, sitting with cuff at proper height on arm, 5 -7 minutes rest period prior, without eating for 30 minutes prior, no coffee or exercise prior to it, and 1 minute interval between consecutive readings. I used the devices 3 reading average BP and also ran 3 individual readings and dropping the first (normally most inaccurate) then average the last two. The averages matched within the mentioned mmHg that my friend, who is a doctor, took for me during my evaluation across several days using the “old fashion” method. If you read the reviews from people that said the device was highly inaccurate, there was a high likelihood of user error, even as simple as probably not remaining still or setting the interval too close on the multiple reading setting.Omron Connect appYou don’t have to use the app as the device has internal storage for a lot of readings, but I like having all my data on my phone to give me a complete picture of weight, activity, BP, pulse, ecg, etc. The device pairs to the phone via Bluetooth, not wi-fi (like the Withings). You transfer the readings to your phone by going into the app and pressing the sync button. This is where the app gets a little wonky. Sometimes, it sync on its own, sometimes you have to press the button, sometimes it fails to get the data for find the device. But, it tells you what to do to fix the issue. Not a big deal for me, but definitely not as seamless as the Withings which immediately transfer the readings via wi-fi to the phone. This is only feature, to me, that requires more work.Overall, I am very pleased with my experience with the product and have recommended it to other family members and friends.

I had a different monitor from Costco that I brought to a clinic to have it checked. They said it wasn’t reading right. Accurate, fast, decent Omron app

Bought this to upgrade from older Omron unit. The cuff design is good, easy to put on by yourself and inflates quickly. Big readout is great. Syncs with cell phone easily. The app is easy to use and you can input manual readings on your phone. You can output your readings to email in a date range your set. This is a accurate unit. Did side by side readings (right out of box) with manual BP cuff with no difference. It comes with AC adaptor.

    Accurate and easy to use.

I bought this to replace an older OMRON unit that I also liked. But this Platinum monitor is a much better unit and I trust the readings as accurate. According to independent ratings, this Platinum unit has the hight accuracy of all other home-use monitors. I really like that it has ability for two different people to us and store those readings per person. My wife and I use this several times per week. Follow the recommendations and do two readings in the morning and two in the evening to get an average, because your blood pressure may vary with each reading. The cuff is great – I have a larger upper arm and my wife has a much smaller arm. The cuff fits us both and easy to switch from each other’s prior use. The cuff fits tightly and the velcro holds it in place as the monitor inflates the cuff. It inflates quickly and only takes a few seconds for it to then display a reading.I have also connected the monitor to my iphone so I have my reading stored there also. That way I can have those available when I visit my doctor and discuss. It was easy to pair the two, after I downloaded the OMRON app.The most important concern I had with buying a blood pressure monitor was whether I can trust the reading or not – this unit has given me that comfort. Overall I am very satisfied with this Platinum OMRON monitor.

Compare to 10 series model 7450

Over several years, I have found Omron to have a good reputation for accuracy and durability as well as a price that seems to be a bit higher than industry average. They also offer a confusing range of blood pressure monitors ( and other items ). There’s the 3 series, the 5 series, the 7 and 10 series, the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum models, the evolve, a do-all EKG model and at least one wrist model. About seven years ago, I started with the 10 series which came with a pre-formed, “comfit” cuff. I recorded my vitals in a journal notebook, averaged the results weekly and transferred the data to a quarterly graph. My doctor loved it. After about two years, I upgraded ( ? ! ? ! ) to the 10 series model BP 786n with Bluetooth, an available AP and again with the “comfit ” cuff. The AP may have improved over the years, but, at the time, I was less than impressed with its performance and utility. Nor was I thrilled with Omron’s apparent desire for Carte Blanche as to how my personal and medical information was to be used. I have not used Bluetooth or the AP on any of my blood pressure machines but have continued to make manual entries on my graph and in my journals. Recently I had to retire my trusty model BP 786n and purchased a Platinum model BP 5450 which came with a less than ideal fabric carry bag and a wrap-around, D-ring cuff. I found using the new cuff, one handed, to be annoyingly awkward. No problem, I still had my “comfit” cuff. I swapped it out and it seemed to work fine and I was satisfied until I noted in the manual states that cuffs not supplied with each model are ” not compatible “. An e-mail from Omron simply stated that the Platinum BP 5450 was designed for use with the D-ring cuff and they couldn’t guarantee accuracy if another cuff was used. A phone conversation with a tech added the issue arises from the algorithms used to compute blood pressure. I was also advised that they had a 10 series model BP 7450 which came with the desired ” comfit ” cuff. Now I have both……… PLATINUM BP 5450 / 10 Series BP 7450 COMPARISON and REVIEW Both machines have the same size, shape, footprint, apparent weight, good accuracy and very much the same functionality. There are a small number of differences. Notably the bezel around the screen on the 10 is black and on the platinum it’s silver. The cuffs are as noted. There is one more button on the top right ( next to the “memory” button ) of the platinum and marked with a “sunrise” logo. This gives access, with the “rocker” button, to seven weeks of “morning” averages. The 10 series doesn’t have the button or the function. Other buttons are identical. Incidentally, the manual for the platinum was multilingual, the10 series was English only. Set-up and routine use of both machine’s are essentially the same; you should get familiar with the buttons as the “set up” will time out if you take too long. The right side of the display is the newest reading, the left side is the previous one. Both machines are noticeably quieter than my old model 786n. They also use batteries significantly faster, probably due to the larger, more complex display. I’ve made it a point to use the included AC adapter. Both machines have “tru-read” capability where the machine takes three readings at designated intervals then displays the average. For those who believe tru-read takes too long…… reduce the interval or turn off tru-read. I believe it improves accuracy and use it at 30 seconds. I have had an issue with “ghosting” of the display if it isn’t viewed within a narrow angle. This may be universal. I have eliminated the ghosts by adjusting my seat height and tilting the machine towards me. All things considered, I couldn’t recommend choosing one machine over the other. Both give results which are spot on with expectations. The morning average button or lack of it is up to individual users as is the preferred cuff. I prefer the comfit cuff but I could understand how some might think it stiff and uncomfortable. Some will prefer the wrap around but I find it awkward. I think you’ve made a good choice if you pick either.Update for information only: For several months I have alternated using both machines as boxed, both machines using only the “comfit” cuff and just the platinum alternating the cuffs. Results are inconclusive as my personal blood pressure is not steady enough to give a reliable base line. However, there is also no clear indication that the comfit cuff shouldn’t be used. Readings for both machines using either cuff have been within expected ranges.Things that make you go: Hmmmmmmm. On the underside of both machines are two grooves just above the battery compartment. These grooves are not mentioned nor are they pictured in either manual. I determined that if you take two #14 wood screws ( or similar ) and install them horizontally, at eye level, on a vertical surface about 14mm apart, the monitors may be mounted for almost perfect display. I can’t say that this is the grooves intended purpose and I found, for my purposes, such mounting to be unhandy.

REVIEWThe Omron Platinum BP Monitor is registered with the FDA as a medical device and when you receive it you will understand why. It is a precision electronic instrument. Here are some highlights:• The monitor is heavy duty and finely crafted.• It has a real BP cuff with a D-ring that allows you to easily get it snug around your arm.• It has a variety of features, including a 3-take average and an alert for morning hypertension.• It has a carry case and an AC power supply.• It has a comprehensive, printed manual.• It is easy to unpack even if you problems with dexterity.• It is easy to read the display even if you have less than good vision. In short, this is a device you would expect to see used in professional home health care. You pay more but you get a lot more. If you want something that looks like it should be included with a happy meal, then spend $29.95. But first, ask yourself this. “What is my life worth?”ENCOURAGEMENTHigh blood pressure is a silent killer that affects about half of the US population, according to best estimates. I did not get one of the best BP monitors you can buy because I have high blood pressure. I got it because I DON’T WANT HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE! And the best way to avoid problems is to watch what your body is doing.I got into taking care of myself back when they laughed and called you a “health food nut.” No one calls me that anymore and my contemporaries stopped laughing a long time ago, those that are still alive. I take no medications and have boundless energy. I just ran 2 miles in the hills yesterday and tonight I will lift weights. I can stand with my legs straight and put my palms flat on the floor. I can balance on one leg and hold the other straight out for more than a minute. I am a lot older than you would guess if you saw me.How did I do it? Simple. Almost no alcohol, tobacco or drug use (I experimented briefly with cigarettes when I was a kid). Eating organic (no additives) and low on the food chain. Drinking bottled water. Protecting myself from chemicals in food and the environment. Reading about health and using good judgment rather than following fads. Exercising vigorously and often. Not letting anyone make me feel like a stick-in-the-mud for being cautious about my health.I may not have a medical degree but I have figured out that taking care of yourself pays off in dividends that are worth more than money. Just ask anyone who is sick.If you have a problem, your doctor is going to advise medication and you should listen to her. But you should also look to your lifestyle and change everything you can to improve your health. Your goal should always be to enjoy good health naturally because medications have side effects and will never completely compensate for a poor diet, inactivity, destructive habits or environmental toxins.I have some regrets in my life, but taking care of myself has never been one of them. I know it is difficult, but ask yourself this question. “What is my life worth?”

This is the one you need!

The Omron Platinum Blood Pressure Monitor is easy to use, accurate and quick. It takes about half the time to measure than my previous monitor, has pictures on the cuff so there is no question how to fit it on my arm and is much more comfortable than others. I decided to give the Omron Platinum a try when I read an article by Dr. Mercola and this was on his list of recommended units. What a find! You will be happy you purchased this one.

Does not meet specification for accuracy – Widely inaccurate! App is terrible, too.

This is the latest generation of OMRON blood pressure monitors, released in 2019. Considering that OMRON is a “brand name” and that this is the latest and the greatest that they can offer, I had high hopes for this monitor. It came nicely packaged, with a soft case, batteries, and a printed manual included in the box. Unlike most consumer goods on this planet, it is not made in China but it Vietnam.I have an elevated blood pressure and decided that I need to monitor it to find the best combination of food, exercise, and natural healing methods to keep it in control without medication. The specification of the monitor, printed in the manual, is: accuracy of measured blood pressure +/- 3 mm Hg, and +/-5% for pulse. This looks great on paper. This means, if your blood pressure is 150, the readings should be within 147 to 153 range. To validate the specified accuracy, I took 9 consecutive measurements, separated by 60 seconds between the end of the previous measurement (when the cuff deflates completely) and the beginning of the new one. I expected my blood pressure to be in the mid-140s range. Here are the 9 readings for my systolic pressure:161 – 152 – 144 – 164 – 152 – 160 – 146 – 160 – 152Can anyone tell me what my systolic blood pressure is? If it is 161, I have a serious problem. If it is 144, is elevated, but kind of OK. The range from 144 to 164 is 20 mm Hg. It is not anywhere close to the stated +/-3 mm Hg accuracy. Note, nothing changed in my condition within about 16-18 mins which it took to collect these 9 measurements. I did not remove or readjust the cuff. I was sitting at the same table occupied just with this test. I was just watching the time, pressing the button, and taking measurements. There is no reason to think that my blood pressure would fluctuate that much and so randomly when sit in a relaxed position. The only conclusion that I can make is that this monitor is wildly inaccurate and cannot be trusted.Since it does not meet the spec and cannot be used to make a reasonable conclusion how high my blood pressure it, I consider it not working and sending it back. Looking at other reviews here on this Amazon page, it became clear that I made a mistake and bought a monitor which is consistently inaccurate, as reported by many users. It seems to be not a failing unit which I was lucky to get, but a systemic issue with a poorly designed product. Not that it matters with the monitor so inaccurate that it cannot be used at all, but a few words on overall impression from its features. It has memory for 100 last readings for each of two users, which is nice. The user interface is a little primitive, for today’s standards – a touch screen is definitely missing. But on the other hand, liquid crystals display might be more battery-friendly. It would be hard to set up without a manual, but since the manual in included and is very detailed, everything can be set up by pressing a sequence of buttons to set up date and time, and everything works. The platinum version which I got also has the ability of automatically taking 3 measurements and averaging them to improve accuracy. Turning this feature on or off or changing the pause between the measurements through pressing a sequence of buttons is a pain as one has to go through the complete setup process from the very beginning. Another good reason for a lower rating. Given such wild fluctuation of readings in individual measurements, I would not trust the average, although the variability of average is, as expected, lower.OMRON recommends that users install an application “OMRON connect”, available for iPhones and Android phones. The app connects to the monitor via Bluetooth. Reportedly, one can quicker set up the monitor via the app, and one can view the history of measurements on the phone. I downloaded the app, but immediately run into a MAJOR RED FLAG when trying to start it – in order to use the app, one has to create an OMRON account, provide some personal health related data (like date of birth, weight, etc.), and agree to receive marketing information. I see absolutely no reason why OMRON should have access to my health information (this company is not my doctor) and why they should have the option of selectively spamming me based on my blood pressure readings. If I had a good level of respect for OMRON based on their “brand name” status, this respect has fallen down the cliff once I saw their app. No wonder, it has 2.1 stars rating on Google. This rating is partly affected by the problem which I outlined above, and partly by poor and unstable connection to the monitor and lack of functionality, reported by many users. Also, users report that most useful features of this app are not free.UPDATE 12/31/2019: I returned the Omron Platinum monitor and purchased a different model, Omron Evolve (also ordered through Amazon) – the price was about the same. Evolve is a single-piece monitor which according to OMRON has more sensors than any other consumer level model. There is no tube which connects the cuff to the unit with pump and display. My hope was that the monitor would be able to detect BP more reliably because its sensors do not need to “listen” to the pulse through the long connecting air pipe. I had a better success with Evolve! Here are 6 consecutive readings for systolic pressure taken with Evolve:142 – 143 – 148 – 143 – 144 – 146This fits into +/- 3 mm Hg tolerance and is much more stable. The readings are where I expected them to be. Evolve did not come with a carrying case and the cuff is a little more stiff than that of Omron Platinum, but at least it works for me and gives consistent readings within the specified tolerances.

    Good but not Great!

I have a lot of health issues including 3 heart conditions. I needed to start monitoring my Blood Pressure and Pulse at home several times a day. I did some research and bought this and kept it on my arm with the Appp open on my phone any time I was sitting for long periods of time so I could hurry and hit the Start Button every time I felt my heart wig out. A lot of times I was doing that every few minutes. I really like some of the features. It has an App that syncs with my phone. I really love the app and how it’s been designed. It’s super easy to view, navigate, read and understand. It keeps a history on the monitor and on the App and I can share it with my Doctors. After using it for a while I got frustrated that if I had to quickly run to the bathroom or another room for a few minutes I had to carry it with me or take it off and go and then put it back on a few minutes later. It’s difficult to see where the cord stems from to get it centered on my arm properly. It slides a little when I’m putting it on and I have to look under the velcro to see it. I wish there was an arrow or some indicatorthat’s visible. It’s a hassle and slows me down when I’m trying to hurry and get it on. I don’t like that it’s not rechargeable and requires batteries and a cord. In today’s world almost everything is rechargeable. Also, there are buttons for different things around the back and top that I accidentally press when I’m picking it up or moving it. I try to be careful not to do that but it happens. That messes up settings, the sync and readiness for use.I decided to do more research for something better. I bought a cordless, rechargeable one that is just a Cuff. The App for that one was horrible!!! So, I only use this one even though it’s got these issues. I wish this company had a Cordless, Rechargeable Cuff with the same style of App. I also wish it kept track of my pulse and had a breakdown of what is normal, high, low, etc… and what each range indicates, just like it does for the Blood Pressure for Normal, Stage 1, Stage 2 and Critical.

    Great product

My doctor suggested that I should have a blood pressure monitor at home so I can periodically measure and monitor my blood pressure. He suggested this model. I have it now for over two months now. Since it can be used by two persons and stores data on cell phone app, now my wife and I both can regularly monitor our blood pressures. And it’s quite accurate. We take two or three measurements each time. Although the numbers are not always the same, they are not too far apart as well. Generally speaking, it is a great product for home use.
